My time at Octapharma has been one of growth, opportunity, and life-changing experiences. As a Senior Clinical Nurse Educator for Medical Affairs, I get the distinct honor of dealing with both patients and medical professionals. I truly love the one-on-one interaction with patients and family members while sharing critical information about our products and how they have changed lives all over the world. I am truly inspired by the remarkable hardworking individuals I meet in the bleeding disorders community.
What I enjoy most about being a Senior Clinical Nurse Educator at Octapharma is that it allows me to travel and meet such wonderful and inspiring people. These remarkable individuals are part of a community that once viewed being diagnosed with a bleeding disorder as the “beginning of the end.” Not anymore. Today, they fight tirelessly to turn their diagnosis around, and I’m their biggest cheerleader. Their work even inspired me to create a self-infusion mat so that more patients have the steps, materials, and guidance they need to infuse outside of their clinics and hospitals.
Another thing I like about working at Octapharma, is the company’s openness to new ideas and initiatives. Prior to my recent promotion, I was given the opportunity to grow professionally in a number of ways. This included creating and launching the company’s very first African American Educational Summit — a month-long virtual summit featuring professionals across the community and industry educating both patients and professionals on the health issues, community concerns, storied history, and opportunities for relationship improvement between the African American and medical communities.
In addition to the success of the summit, I’ve also been given the support to become certified in DEIB – Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and serve on the first-ever DEIB committee, allowing Octapharma to create practices and events that include every employee. Creating an environment of belonging and support leads to the most compelling thing about being part of the Octapharma team — the company’s family environment. It really is a family-owned business, and this feeling of family extends to all employees. We’re all in it together and we succeed as one. Whenever I’ve needed help from an Octapharma family member, they’ve always been there for me.
My advice for job seekers? Believe in the work you’re applying to do. This industry is not for the faint of heart. It requires sacrifice, dedication and sincere conviction about what you represent for the company. Your success means success for everyone. If you do your part, Octapharma will do theirs to help you achieve your goals. Always know that you can lean on your team and your available resources.
